Today may be one of the most meaningful and important holidays of the year. Growing up as a kid, I looked forward to Christmas as the best holiday of the year. The reason: simple, it had to do with receiving gifts and toys.
I never cared too much about Thanksgiving until I began college. It was at that point that I realized that life is tough and possessions are not as important as once thought.
Today, I really enjoy Thanksgiving as it holds a deep meaning to me. It signifies that what's important is not what you have, but what you have to offer. It's about being around family and friends who are always looking out for you. Spending time with each person you have a special bond with is priceless and can never be underestimated.
Of course, the best part of Thanksgiving is eating all that turkey, stuffing, and of course, a good pumpkin pie with cool whip. What's not to like about that? And of course, you cannot forget about the football on television.
The bottom line is that throughout the course of a year, you go through some good times and some bad times. In the end, however, this day summarizes the values and importance of what it means to be thankful for and thankful to. At the end of the day, having family and friends lending their support is something I know that I'm thankful for.
